IPGMER-SSKM Swasthya Samiti was set up at  244, A. J. C. Bose Road, Kolkata – 700 020, West Bengal with  the objective for the establishment of the society is to run medical colleges, its associated courses and hospitals with a view to:

1. Plan, organize and implement all such activities which are directly or indirectly related to the educational and research needs of the college and welfare of the patients.
2. Implement the courses of study and syllabi as prescribed by various professional councils established by the Act of Parliament – MCI, DCI, INC etc. and the rules of admission, as prescribed by professional council and the reservation policy will be as per Constitution of India and State Government.
3. Implement procedures of evaluation and assist in conducting examination as per guidelines prescribed by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, the State Medical Faculty of West Bengal, W.B. Nursing Council or any other examination body for any recognized courses.
4. To improve the hospital services by any such measure deemed suitable and acceptable in the interest of public services in conformity with the prevalent rules of the State Government.
5. To conduct courses with collaboration of National Scientific Organizations like ICMR, CSIR etc. and also with International Scientific agencies like WHO and with any overseas Universities within the framework and permission of the law of the land.
6. To conduct research work in collaboration with the Institutions of National and International repute and also with other agencies.
7. To accept equipments, stores and materials owned by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal on annual lease, on payment of such amount as required by the lessor and thence be responsible for their operation, maintenance, repair, replacement of parts at the cost of the Society during the lease period.
8. To accept materials, funds, properties etc on donation for formation of a corpus.
