Work experience
Interventional Radiology at School of Digestive & Liver Diseases-Interventional radiology treatments have become first-line care for a wide variety of conditions. Interventional Radiology is a specialty that combines the clinical and imaging based diagnosis with minimally invasive therapy. Some of the interventional services offered at our department include:

Vascular procedures
Complete clinical evaluation and state-of-the-art vascular diagnostics allow us to perform a complete range of gastrointestinal and other abdominal interventions. These include:

  • Gastrointestinal Bleeding not amenable to endoscopic interventions.
  • Central Venous Access
  • Trans jugular liver biopsy
  • Angioplasty of Budd- Chiari Syndrome / IVC occlusion
  • IVC and Hepatic vein stenting.
  • Vena Cava Filter Placement
  • Transjugular intrahepatic porto-systemic shunt (TIPS)
  • Trans-arterial chemo-embolization of liver tumor (TACE)
  • Thrombolysis in acute portal vein thrombosis
  • Selective Portal vein embolization before hepatectomy
  • Embolization of Post traumatic or post operative renal bleed.
  • Renal angioplasty in Renovascular hypertension.
  • Uterine Fibroid Embolization.

Non-vascular procedures

  • USG guided FNAC and biopsies.
  • Percutaneous drainages of Liver abscess, abdominal collections,
  • Percutaneous biliary drainage and biliary stenting.
  • Trans gastric infected pancreatic pseudocyst drainage
  • Percutaneous nephrostomy and ureteral stenting.
  • Fallopian Tube recanalization
  • Esophageal stenting

Teaching Experience

  • Daily academic sessions with residents
  • Intradepartmental case discussions and seminars.
  • Training of residents of radiology-carrying out research work, data analysis, manuscript preparation, etc.
