Multi-Disciplinary Research Unit (MRU), I.P.G.M.E & R, Kolkata

Dept. of Health Research, Govt. of India approved the establishment of a Multidisciplinary Research Unit in I.P.G.M.E&R in 2016 as part of a national scheme to establish such units in State Govt. Medical Colleges with a view to create a dedicated infrastructure for research with special focus on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). The Unit is located on the 5th floor, Academic Building, I.P.G.M.E&R.

Objectives of the MRU:

  • Encourage and strengthen development of an ecosystem for undertaking research in medical colleges.
  • To improve the overall health status of the population by creating evidence-based application of diagnostic procedures/processes/methods.

  • Research concept proposals are invited from faculty of IPGME&R to undertake projects (1-2 years duration) focussed on addressing the health needs of West Bengal, and utilizing the equipment procured by the MRU.
  • A concept proposal of 3-5 pages (max. 3000 words) and CV of the PI to be submitted during the call.
  • Each Concept proposal is initially screened by the MRU Core Committee.
